The Pastor Is In!
Pastor Dani Veenstra, local faith leader at the United Church of Christ Congregation, an ally to the LGBTQ+ community, is helping to launch a new service at the OutCenter. The OutCenter invites everyone, allies included, to come in to sit in a space where faith and life connect; explore tough questions in good company, find peace, reconciliation or simply a space to be heard.
Wednesdays, 3:30 to 6 PM, Pastor Dani will be available for conversation. She explains, "I'm eager to begin spending time at the OutCenter in order to provide a space where people can talk about how faith and life connect for the LGBTQ+ community. I look forward to hearing people's stories and engaging in conversations about God's desire that all should experience belovedness. I hope to provide a listening ear in an open and caring environment where questions of what the Bible says about sexual orientation, gender identity, and relationships, can be discussed and explored in a safe space."
Pastor Veenstra in her own words:
My name is Danielle, but everyone calls me Dani. I was born and raise din the Grand Rapids area and am enjoying my recent move to the Southwest part of the Mitten. I moved to Watervliet to begin serving my first church as Pastor in the United Church of Christ. This career shift comes after 35 years of work in manufacturing management and retail. I love to garden, read, cook, sew and spoin my eccentric cat, Gracie. I've been married to a very tolerant man, David, for 20+ years. I've been an LGBTQ+ ally for as long as I can remember; chairing a committee that led a large congregation life over a decade ago and I continue to advocate for LGBTQ+ rights. I have two grown children and three grandchildren.
Walk-ins are welcome!
