As we find ourselves in the midst of the 2012 holiday season, most of us turn to thoughts about our families, our traditions, and our homes.
For many of the people the OutCenter serves, the 2012 holiday season includes thoughts about families we were born into and those we choose, about traditions handed down to us and those we create, and about the homes we came from and those we make.
For the OutCenter Board and staff, our thoughts turn to making Southwest Michigan home for the holidays and home for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people, families and allies we serve.
We ask that you, our friends and family, include the OutCenter in your plans to donate to charitable organizations at the end of 2012. Send the people we serve a message that they will be Home for the Holidays. Help us make a safe and equitable Home for one and all.
This is an exceptional time to donate to the OutCenter:

An anonymous donor has offered to match donations 4:1. For every $4 we raise this month, he will donate $1 up to $5,000. This means that if we raise $20,000, he will make a donation of $5,000.00.
We have secured above this amount in past year-end appeals and we are asking you to help us make this goal now.
It is our vision that Southwest Michigan becomes a fully integrated community in which LGBT people and their families are welcomed, respected, valued, understood, and afforded the same rights and responsibilities as everyone else.

Locally, in 2012 we continued to provide terrific resources, activities, and an important safe space for LGBT youth, adults and families. In 2013, as the OutCenter ramps up to celebrate our 10 year anniversary, we are looking forward to leveraging the momentum from results of the 2012 election where four states voted to establish marriage equality. And we will look to you and others to help chart a path forward to fulfill the mission and vision of a fully integrated, respectful and equitable Southwest Michigan.
Our work serving LGBT individuals, families and allies is far from over after almost 10 years of operation.
We are at an important moment in our history. We have 10 years to learn from and build on. We will start in earnest in 2013 to plan for and build toward our vision. We have the people and partners in place and we need you there too.
Do you want to help make a home for your LGBT neighbors, families, friends, and allies in Southwest Michigan?
Do you want to help make this area a home for equal rights?
If you do, please donate today to the OutCenter, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. You donate on line by going to our website at www.outcenter.org. Your donation is tax deductible to the fullest extent provided by law.
Remember, too, that your donation this month will help us secure a donation of $5,000 from an anonymous donor.
Now is the time to make a donation. Now is the time to get involved. |
