In this video, Gerik talks about the Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act (ELCRA), a Michigan anti-discrimination law which was expanded in 2023 to prohibit discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity. Though anti-LGBTQ+ bills and orders are on the rise, ELCRA provides protections for queer folks — and members of other marginalized communities — in matters of education, housing, and employment.
