Pathways of Belonging Details
What is the Pathways of Belonging training?
Pathways of Belonging training seeks to unpack and deeply examine what it means for everyone to engage in the world as sexual and gendered people. Grounded in the evidence-based Proud and Empowered training curriculum, these workshops are proven to create safe and welcoming environments.
Pathways of Belonging training that can be used in contexts such as:
Health care
Higher education
Public service and government
Mental health professionals, such as therapists or guidance counselors
HR, organizational development, and corporate training
Pathways of Belonging training seek to unpack and deeply examine what it means for everyone to engage in the world as sexual and gendered people. Further, it will dive deep into what it means to be a responsible ally, as well as how to advocate for those navigating issues within the queer community.
Attendees of the full workshop training sessions will receive “train the trainer” instruction, and be provided Proud and Empowered curriculum to facilitate the curriculum in their respective environments.
What makes Pathways of Belonging different?
While off-the-shelf DEI training is better than nothing, some of these training materials aren’t as effective as we’d like. Pathways of Belonging takes an innovative approach towards competency training: making the material relevant for everyone!
While it’s important to learn about pronouns or civil rights history, we’ve found that our curriculum is effective because it invites everyone — straight, cisgender, and queer people alike — to more deeply examine their gender expression and sexual orientation. This gets everyone on the same page: curious and open to understand different peoples’ diverse experiences!
Further, while it’s important to learn about cultural and social constructs related to LGBTQ+ topics, Pathways of Belonging involves best-in-class resources about biology and medical care created by medical professionals. That means our material is scientifically-grounded and factually-objective. This means we can avoid some of the more-fraught political discussions about queer identity, by grounding our discussions on reality: and that’s that all people exist in a beautiful and colorful spectrum of gender identity and sexual orientation.
What does Pathways of Belonging Training look like?
Pathways of Belonging training is a three-hour workshop that involves interaction and presentation elements. There are practice questions, periods of self-examination, and lecture-based sections of the workshop.
Pathways can be brought to your organization, or it can be presented online (though we really recommend in-person training).
We have various trainers with specific expertise for your industry, from healthcare, to HR, to high schools, and more.
